PARKING QUESTIONS
I see certain people driving on the gravel paths at the NOVA fields. Why can’t I drive there also?
NOVA has been kind enough to allow certain volunteers who are hauling equipment or concession tents to drive in certain areas at certain times.
Obviously opening up the paths to everyone would potentially create a serious safety hazard. NOVA will ticket those using the paths who do not have proper Coach’s ID and valid Parking Permit.
Sometimes the parking situation is difficult. I am not sure what areas are legal?
Review the parking diagrams on the website under “Fields”. If you are still unclear, send an email to the Officers for clarification. The Church parking lot behind Fields 11-14 and the main lots of the Library shall not be used for soccer parking. Please respect our good neighbors.
Why is it a problem if I drop off and pick up my kids along Potomac View Road?
While SYSA understands the potential convenience of this practice, there are many reasons why the parents should not do this. First of all, it is illegal and you can be ticketed. Furthermore, it creates dangerous situations with cars pulling onto the gravel, pulling back slowly onto the busy road, and having children around while other cars are passing by at speeds as high as 60 mph. Also, the coaches are trying to keep track of the children as each leaves the practice to make sure that all of the parents have arrived and no child is left unsupervised. The coaches also like to have the parents physically there at the end of the practice so that they can pass on information regarding upcoming team events or notify the parent of an apparent injury or incident during practice.
Instead of parking, I would like to give permission for my child to ride the SYSA “Activity Bus”. Where can I find the bus routes, bus stops and schedules?
We have checked for you and have determined that the bus does not come near your house this season. :)
