If you are coaching this season, or even if you have just thought about becoming a coach – SYSA is hosting FREE VYSA Coaching “F” Certificate Courses in Sterling on Saturday March 27th (time and location TBD). This 5 hour course IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST THING that you can do to improve your knowledge for the upcoming season.
The State Association (VYSA) sends an 'A' licensed coach to Sterling to run these sessions. There is a U6-U8 module for those coaching U4/5 through U8 and a U10-U12 Module for those coaching U9-U12. SYSA highly recommends for all coaches. To make our program the best it can be, our goal in the coming seasons is to have all returning coaches to have coaching certificates. (SYSA pays the fees for all SYSA members.)
This course will cover:
Classroom/Theory: Philosophy of Coaching, Characteristics of Players at each age level, Team Administration, Risk Management, Care and Prevention of Injuries and Modified Laws of the Game.
Field/Practical: Age Appropriate Field Activities and Progression of activities through the practice session. The instructor will be working with actual SYSA players through drills, while our coaches watch, pick up coaching points, and ask questions.
ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS COURSE. If you are interested in attending one or both of the F courses, send an email to Totan Roy at: T1076@aol.com and put: U6-U8F Course or U10-U12 F Course in the subject header to be put onto the list of attendees. MARK YOUR CALANDER TODAY!! (Please note that March 27th is the Saturday at the front end of Loudoun County Schools spring break and is directly before the start of practices on March 29th).
If you would like to take one of these courses but cannot make this date, it is also being held other weekends in the area including McLean & DC. You must register for courses hosted by other clubs ONLY through their coordinator and not through SYSA. After completion of the class, SYSA will reimburse you for your fees.
