The Sterling travel program entered ten teams in the 15th annual Hunt Country Classic tournament the weekend of November 19/20 with great results.  Three teams brought back the championship and two teams were finalist. 

Coach Fabio and his team of U9 Sterling FC Elite Black ’02 boys won their division to bring their first tournament trophy back to Sterling!  The boys went 3-0-1 in the tournament.  Congratulations to all the boys!

 In the inaugural season of the Sterling FC Black Program, the Sterling FC Elite U15B are Virginia President Cup Champions and will represent Virginia and SYSA in the Regional finals in New Hampshire over the Memorial Day weekend in 2012.  The FC Elite advanced to the semi-final round after defeating the VSA Heat Gold in October.  The semi and final rounds were held in Richmond November 5th and 6th, where the Elite defeated the VAR Rush Peninsula Swoosh 2-0 on Saturday to advance to the finals on Sunday against the VSA Heat Blue.  The finals went into the second overtime period tied 1-1, when the Elite sealed the win with a goal in the 100th minute. The boys held off the attack in the final 10 minutes to capture championship.  Great job Elite and good luck in the Championship in New Hampshire!!!!

Sterling White ’Marshmallows’, a U8 girls all-star team, competed in the HYS All Star Cup on November 19 an 20 and posted a great 4-1-2 record. The girls won four straight after dropping their first, then finished with a tie and another loss. The girls showed great enthusiasm and improvement from the all-star selection process through the tournament.

Sterling U12 Boys All Stars won the Herndon All Star Championship!!  Congratulations!!!

The U8 girls  "Orange Crush", coached by Tina Valente and Bill Forcey, did a fantastic job in the All Star tournament.  The girls worked really hard and had alot of fun in their first soccer tournament experience.  They represented SYSA proudly.  They won all 7 games, outscoring their opponents 17-3, and didn't allow goals in 5 of 7 games.  Great job girls!!!

Katie Boles was awarded 4 DC United Tickets for the Spring because she won the design contest for the Fall SYSA 2011 season.  This year’s patch displays a soccer ball being kicked into a puddle; very appropriate for this season.   This is the second time Katie has won the contest.  Thank you to all those you gave an entry.  There were many excellent designs.
